Singapore is an island surrounded by other islands. Many are worth a visit and offer a different experience from the mainland.

Kusu Island
On Kusu Island, you can find a Malay shrine and a Chinese temple with an interesting history. A giant sea turtle, so the legend goes, once saved two shipwrecked sailors. As an act of gratitude, the two men built a Chinese temple, a Malay shrine and a huge turtle sculpture on the island. During the ninth lunar month, devotees make annual pilgrimages to the Tua Pekong Temple and visit the shrine called Kramat Kusu.

Take a ferry from the Sentosa Ferry Terminal*. Departure times: 10.00am and 1.30pm (Mon to Sat), and at 9.00am, 11.00am, 1.00pm, 3.00pm and 5.00pm (Sun and public holidays).

Return ticket SGD 10.00 (adults), SGD 6.00 (child 3 to 12 years). Boat ride is half an hour.

*During the Kusu season, 26 Sep to 24 Oct, ferry departs from Clifford Pier between 6.30 am to 5.00pm daily. Last ferry leaves Kusu Island at 7.00pm daily. The usual daily ferry service from Sentosa to Kusu and St John's Islands will be temporarily suspended.
