Singapore got a special world of tasty foods at different kind of atmosphere and surroundings.
From fancy air-conditioned restaurants to the local food centre, from French cuisine to local Peranakan (or Straits Chinese) dishes or even Mongolian food - the flavours are so different that you'd be missing out if you don't venture beyond the food you're used to

Local Food at its best.

You haven't been to Singapore if you haven't tried our local food. Food centres, also called hawker centres, in heartland neighbourhoods or air-conditioned food courts in shopping complexes offer you an array of local dishes.

Other places highly recommended: Lau Pa Sat's 'Satay Street' along Boon Tat Street, curry restaurants along Race Course Road, Chinatown Food Street along Smith Street, Fishermen's Village by the beach at Pasir Ris, Newton Hawker Centre and the UDMC Seafood Centre at East Coast Park.

Sharing of tables is a common practice at the local food centre. Get a table, note the number and then look at the pictures at the stall to order. Give the stall operator your table number, wait for your food to be delivered and pay only when it arrives. Although some stalls may have the self-service sign, others will usually deliver the food to your table. When ordering seafood, check prices and do some comparison with other stalls before making your order.
