Katong is well known as a food haven among the locals. As a Peranakan enclave, it is a district that is rich in Peranakan and Eurasian heritage and architecture. Many of the older Peranakans homes, now standing back from the sea, were once seaside villas.

Wander along East Coast Road for a choice of delectable local fare, including the famous laksa dish, tasty local seafood and Peranakan cuisine.
