The Changi Chapel, housed within the open-air courtyard of the new Museum, is a symbolic replica of the many chapels that were built during the Japanese Occupation. First built in 1988 by Changi Prison inmates, it stands today as a monument for those who stood with unflinching faith and dignity in the face of seemingly hopeless odds during those dark years.
Letters, photographs, drawings and personal effects displayed in the Museum give an insight into the lives and thoughts of the 50,000 civilians and soldiers who were imprisoned in Changi.
One of the museum's main highlights is the replica of The Changi Murals, a series of magnificent wall paintings recreated from the originals painted by bombardier Stanley Warren.
Opening times: 9.30am to 4.30pm daily
Admission: Free.
