Most of the Diving spots are located in the South and East costs of Sri Lanka. There are Coral reefs, Ship Wrecks and Archeological Sites and many more, which you can explore easily in comfort if you are a professional diver. As for now, all Diving spots must be reached by motorized boats within the reach of 15 minutes to 45 minutes run. Most of the boat runs are done in the morning when the climate is good. Namely Negombo, Beruwala, Bentota, Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Weligama and Tangalle are the most famous stations for Diving experience. In the months of April to November, you can visit to Sri Lanka's Eastern zone to find Trincomalee's Nilaveli and Uppuveli and Batticalo for a safe diving or under water hunting.
As for Ship wrecks there are more than 15 located including H.M.S.Hermes and S.S.Rangoon, around Sri Lanka waters, which you can dive to see yourself.
