Sri Lanka Welcomes more Air Lines.

Sri Lanka is welcoming one more package air line from Singapore as the tourist arrivals are increasing rapidly to the Island nation. The Tiger Airways operated by the Singapore Company has started its new route as Colombo - Singapore and Singapore - Colombo service. The Tiger Airways is now flying to Colombo 3 times a week after its inaugural flight touchdown on 31st May 2012.

The ticket rate from Colombo to Singapore will be Srilanka Rs.8,600/- only while the ticket fare will be Singapore dollar 98 for the Singapore to Colombo flight.

According to the Tiger Airways their service to Colombo will reach three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Sri Lanka Government had made a major change in the visa issuance for the foreigners who want to visit Sri Lanka for vacation, business and education. Earlier all the foreigners were able to secure on arrival visas for their stay at the entry point from the Srilanka Immigration officers at no cost. Now the tourist arrivals had changed the position of the Sri Lanka Government and all the foreigners will have to get their visas prior to their arrival through the online visa application form.

According to the Sri Lanka Government's latest proposal there will be no visa fees for those children under the age of 12 from 01 January 2012 and for the others it will as follows.

1. Maldivian passport holders and Singaporean passport holder would be exempt from this new requirement, based on reciprocity.
2. South Asian travelers will have pay US$10 for the visa.
3. All the other country citizens (78 countries) must pay US$ 20 to obtain the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system.
